12 November 2008 - Bär & Karrer wins the "Law Firm of the Year" ACQ Country Award 2008 for Switzerland

Bär & Karrer has been awarded the "Law Firm of the Year" ACQ Country Award 2008 for Switzerland jointly with Lenz & Staehelin, Tavernier Tschanz, BCCC and BMP Associés.

The ACQ Country Awards have been awarded for the first time and were developed to recognize leaders in mergers & acquisitions. Winners are elected through an independent poll of ACQ readers, contributors, and industry experts. Award winners are independently determined and recognized for their contributions to making deals happen over the last twelve months.

 

 

8 October 2008 - Bär & Karrer elects two new partners

Bär & Karrer is pleased to announce that Peter Hsu and Massimo Vanotti have been elected as partners of the firm as of 1 January 2009. With these elections, we strengthen our Zurich and Lugano offices as well as our financial services and private client team.

27 May 2008 - 2. Intensiv-Seminar Mergers & Acquisitions für Praktiker (23-24 September 2008)

Christoph Neeracher of Bär & Karrer is chairing the second seminar on Mergers & Acquisitions for practitioners which will be held on 23-24 September 2008 in Lucerne under the patronage of the University of St. Gallen. The seminar will focus on legal, tax and financial matters important for the acquisition of privately-held companies. The seminar is primarily aimed at CEOs, CFOs and COOs as well as in-house legal advisers, auditors, lawyers and other persons regularly engaged in M&A-transactions.

The seminar will include experienced speakers from Bär & Karrer and other firms. Bär & Karrer is, aside from the chairperson, represented by Felix R. Ehrat and Rolf Watter, both participating in panel discussions on topics such as defaults of closing, recent developments and trends in the M&A-market, do's and don'ts of the CEO and its advisors in M&A-transactions. In addition, Christoph Neeracher and Caroline Möhrle co-head the legal workgroup during which specific issues emerging from M&A-transactions are discussed and assessed within small workgroups.

20 March 2008 - Negotiation Seminar for Students (9-11 September 2008)

Bär & Karrer invites undergraduate and graduate law students to a

Negotiation Workshop

The workshop will take place from 9 to 11 September 2008 under the guidance of Rolf Watter.

The workshop will introduce you to the basic principles of effective negotiation through case simulations and one-on-one feedback. We will focus on applying these skills in the following contexts:

- Negotiating a deal,
- Negotiation as an alternative dispute resolution technique,
- Negotiating with regulators and government agencies.

The exercises and simulations will be held in German and French, the presentations in English.

The workshop is open to up to 25 undergraduate and graduate law students from all over Switzerland and is free of charge. We expect participants to have completed their sixth semester of law and to have outstanding qualifications. The workshop will take place at the offices of Bär & Karrer in Zurich from 9 September 2008, 9 am, to 11 September 2008, 6 pm, including a social program on Wednesday evening.
